Headmaster’s Welcome

Explore the stunning Glenalmond campus with our virtual tour
Glenalmond is, we believe, the most beautiful school in the world, set in 300 stunning acres of Perthshire providing a natural, fresh environment in which children thrive. Your tour starts with the unforgettable drive down Front Avenue and through the archway into the Quad at the heart of our school, in which our library, chapel and cloisters are located. You’ll then soar high above for a bird’s eye view of our state-of-the-art astro pitches before swooping on to visit our swimming pool, golf course and other facilities and classrooms. Watch out for our magical dining hall – you may feel you are at Hogwarts.
Enjoy the tour!
Our Quad
Visitors find the quad at the heart of our school simply breath-taking and it is equally beautiful in summer, autumn, winter and spring. It varies from a place for calm reflection to somewhere filled with laughter, singing and chatter as children and staff move between classes. It can also be a place of ceremony and remembrance – regularly reverberating with the music of our pipe band – and a place of happiness, where you might spot a red squirrel skipping cheekily across the grass.
Enjoy this 360 view.
The Learning Experience
At Glenalmond we know that successful learning and academic achievement are the result of detailed planning, professional knowledge, experience and creative thinking. No detail is too small in our quest to ensure our teaching is of the highest standard. A school which is great, not just good, is one where opportunities to improve are sought constantly and everyone is committed to learning, not just the pupils.
Jenny Davey, our Sub-Warden (Academic), explains why Glenalmond opens doors for pupils.
Pastoral Care
Our healthy, natural rural setting provides an ideal environment for pupils to thrive, physically and mentally. Most of our staff live at Glenalmond and the strong relationships which are forged between pupils and staff contributes to an inclusive and close school community in which pupils feel happy, secure and valued.
Our dedicated and experienced pastoral team is led by Sarah Sinclair, Sub-Warden in charge of Pastoral Care, who gives an overview of Glenalmond’s approach to pastoral care.
Sport at Glenalmond
Sport is integral to life at Glenalmond and we view it as having a very important role in good mental and physical health as well as for learning teamwork and leadership skills. Our enthusiastic coaches encourage pupils to try different sports and to reach their full potential, at whatever level they play at. Core sports include rugby, hockey, lacrosse, golf, tennis, cricket, athletics, swimming and cross country, along with many others.
Our Director of Sport, Graham Smith, gives an insight into Glenalmond’s commitment to sport.
Music, Drama and Art
Music is at the heart of Glenalmond and resonates throughout our school. This behind the scenes insight into our recent production of “Anything Goes” gives a clear sense of the passion and dedication of our teaching staff and the pupils’ enthusiasm for Drama and Music. Other highlights through the year include our Candlelit Service in Chapel and our autumn and spring concerts. We also have a vibrant and passionate Art department and our own, Artist in Residence.
